Matt Connor, Trustee

Appointed to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) in 2005, Matt Connor has worked as a firefighter in Engine Company 222 and Ladder Company 124, in the Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick neighborhoods of Brooklyn. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2020 and assigned to Battalion 37, in the 15th Division, Brooklyn. Matt has also served in the FDNY Bureau of Training as an Instructor in the Water Management Program, and as a Performance Coach for tactical workshops as part of the Mental Performance Initiative.

Matt received his BS from the University of Delaware in 2004. He is currently completing his MA at the City University of New York’s Graduate Center, where he is studying New York City history through the lens of urban firefighting. Matt has also served as an organizer since 2021 with Bravest for Choice in New York City, before taking on the role of Trustee for the National Coalition of Frontline Workers in 2022.
